Reinforcing Mesh Installation & Handling Tips 📋
🔹 Storage & Handling
Stack mesh on timber blocks, keep off wet ground. Cover with tarpaulin to avoid rust. Separate different sizes and mark clearly.
Lift carefully, do not drag or drop mesh panels. Multi-point lifting to prevent bending.
Wear cut-resistant gloves when handling, sharp edges may cause injury.
🔹 Installation (Most Common Mistakes) ❌ Do NOT lay mesh directly on the ground. ✅ Use concrete spacers / chairs to hold mesh at correct height, keep full concrete cover. Otherwise steel will rust and lose reinforcement function.
Overlap adjacent sheets by at least one mesh opening, tie overlaps tightly with binding wire for continuous strength.
Do not walk directly on mesh after placement. Use temporary walkways during concrete pouring to avoid mesh sagging.
Leave enough concrete cover from mesh to slab edges, no exposed wire ends.
Cut mesh around pipes & openings, add reinforcement around holes as per drawing.
🔹 Material Selection
Choose proper wire gauge & aperture based on load: residential slab, driveway, industrial floor or retaining wall need different mesh.
Galvanized reinforcing mesh recommended for coastal or high-moisture projects for anti-corrosion.
Inspect welds before pouring. Reject mesh with broken welds or heavy deformation.
🔹 After Pouring Follow concrete curing schedule. Reinforcing mesh helps control crack propagation, it cannot eliminate concrete cracks completely.
